Yes it can be done

I am just coming from quiet a demanding project. It was tough not to say ‘no’ yet I knew it would mean pulling a lot of time to work it out. I am glad I did take it. It taught me a few lessons which I would like to share;

Say yes to challenges and learn something new: the project required financial wit which I do not have. With the budget constraint, hiring an accountant was not an option. I did the easy parts in two days before facing the accounting giant. I worked and reworked the financial projections and just when I was sure it looked perfect, I remembered some figure I had left out which changed the whole plan. At some point, it was too frustrating. But most importantly, I learnt something new. I felt so much satisfaction when I finished a whole financial workbook (I think I am now a certified accountant).

“If somebody offers you an amazing opportunity but you are not sure you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later!” Richard Branson

Seek help: I prayed for wisdom, I goggled unfamiliar terms, reread my college notes and called professional friends. It all made things easier.

The universe regulates itself even without our control: when something bad/good happens here, another bad/good thing happens there and they regulate each other. The job before me had a one week strict deadline; I got power blackout for the first three days, I worked myself to the edge for the next three days, my baby fell sick on the 7th day. I was going to send unedited work. On the other side; my client’s supervisor left the country on the 5th day (he was still out by the time he was to review the work), my client also got busy and postponed going through the work on the 6th day. One day past the deadline, I edited my work slowly and what a shame it would have been sending in all those errors!

“All things work for good to those who love the Lord.” Rom 8:28

Take a challenge this week, won’t you!
